Finished grey paver driveway after cleaning, re-sanding and sealing in Bonita Springs, FL — Gulf Coast Sealing & Pressure Cleaning

Your driveway takes more abuse than anything else you own outside

A pool deck gets bare feet and splashed water. A patio gets furniture and a grill. A driveway gets four thousand pounds of car, twice a day, every day, in full Southwest Florida sun.

It is also the first thing anyone sees. Of the job photos we have posted since 2022, driveways are the single most photographed surface on our page, and it is not close. It is the job people call us about most, and it is the one where the difference is most obvious from the street.

What is actually attacking a driveway here

  • Ultraviolet, all day, with nothing over it. Most driveways have no shade at all. The pigment in a concrete paver fades from the top down, and an unsealed driveway in this climate goes grey and chalky years before the paver itself is worn out.
  • Hot tire pickup. A tire that has been on I-75 in August is hot enough to grab at a soft or badly applied sealer and lift it off when you pull out. It leaves crescent-shaped marks exactly where you turn the wheel. You can see them in the before photo on this page.
  • Oil, transmission fluid and power-steering drips. They soak into an unsealed paver and keep soaking. Sealed, the same drip sits on the surface long enough to be cleaned off.
  • Sprinkler overspray. Well water here carries iron. The spray pattern shows up as orange staining in a fan shape, always on the same side of the driveway.
  • Joint sand washing out. Every heavy rain takes a little more, and the apron at the street loses it fastest because that is where the water runs. Empty joints are where weeds start and where pavers begin to rock.

What we actually do

The sequence matters more than any single step.

  1. We walk it before we quote. Nothing gets priced off a photo or a square-footage guess. A driveway that needs a section reset is a different job to one that needs a clean and a seal, and we would rather know before you do.
  2. Anything sunken gets reset first. Sealing a surface that is still moving locks the problem in. Where the apron has dropped or an edge has crept, those pavers come up, the base underneath is corrected, and they go back down level.
  3. Pressure wash. A driveway is a hard surface and takes full pressure — unlike a wall, which does not. Algae, road grime, the black line down the middle from decades of drips.
  4. Stripping, where there is an old coat. If the driveway was sealed before and has gone cloudy or patchy, another coat on top will not fix it. That is a different job and it has its own page.
  5. Re-sand every joint. This is the step most often skipped by whoever quoted cheaper, and it is the one that keeps the driveway flat for the next decade. Sand can be matched to the paver color rather than defaulting to grey.
  6. Seal. We use a water-based sealer, which protects against mould, weeds and fading rather than only adding shine. You choose the finish: wet-look, which deepens the color noticeably, or natural, which protects without the gloss. It is worth seeing both before you decide.

Tinting: the option most people do not know exists

A driveway that has been bleached by fifteen years of sun will not come back to its original color with cleaning alone, because the color is genuinely gone from the top surface of the paver.

A tinted sealer puts color back. It is not paint and it does not sit on top as a film — the tint carries in the sealer and evens out a driveway that has gone patchy and pale. On a surface that would otherwise be a full replacement, it is the difference between a seal and a demolition bill. Ask us about it when we walk the property; it is not right for every driveway, and we will say so.

How often

In this climate, two to three years is the honest interval for a driveway, and a driveway in full sun is at the short end of that. Shaded areas of the same property may go longer.

You do not need to guess. If the water no longer beads, if the color looks flat compared to the edge that sits under a plant, or if the joints look empty, it is time. If none of that is true, we will tell you to leave it — we would rather do the job when it is needed than sell you one a year early.

What you get from us

Our paver sealing carries a two-year warranty. We are licensed and insured, and we can send those documents straight to an HOA or management company that asks for them. Estimates are free and usually same-day. Every one of our Google reviews is five stars, which is the part we would rather you check for yourself than take our word for.
